Renaissance Fair

Steve introduced me to the fun world of Renaissance Fairs back when we were dating. I don't think I had ever been to one before but quickly found out that they are a lot of fun. Many people show up in costume and participate in character. And then for the guys there's the jousting and human chess matches (where they fight it out for the square). There is a fair that makes the round each year not to far from us and we decided to check it out again this year. We started out with ye ole medieval fair rides. These were cute because they were totally man powered. One was a carousel and the other was a huge dragon swing.

Here Steve is posing with one of our favorite acts, The Washing Well Wenches. They are hilarious but not something you take your kids to see. We've gotten away with it in the past, but our kiddos are to perceptive nowadays for us to get away with it.

The girls got to meet the queen who was on her way in to defend her kingdom in the human chess match.
