Thanksgiving 2010
We spent Thanksgiving at Mom and Dad's house this year. It was a beautiful day and we played outside in the yard to work up an appetite.

Fun with Dry Ice!
I had a nice anniversary surprise waiting for me when I got home the other day. Steve had ordered a box of my favorite key lime ice cream bars and had them shipped to our house from the Florida Keys. They had to be packed in dry ice so I looked up from fun experiments online and tried to make the most of it before the dry ice was history.

Now time for some fun!

Barbie's Busy Day
Brooke came up with the idea of making a movie with her Barbie dolls. She created the props, the story line, everything! I wish you could see these props up close. For the museum scene, she created tiny works of art and for the school scene she took half a toothpick and colored the tip black to be a Barbie pencil. Her attention the detail is amazing! Mommy did a little editing and voila! Enjoy!

Movie Extra
A couple weeks ago Steph forwarded an email to me about an upcoming movie shoot that needed extras. She thought I'd be interested and she was right! I haven't gotten to do any theater in years but it's still a piece of me I'd like to get back to some day.
The movie shoot was going to be through Campus Crusade for Christ which is based out of Orlando. They've made several movies including the popular Jesus Film which is used as an evangelism tool all over the world. It's been translated into 1104 different languages. Their new project is a 7-minute film based on the story of the prodigal son and will be called "Brothers".
I asked Heather if she'd like to join me since she also loves theater and works on drama projects at her church and her kids' school. We signed up and got our instructions to dress for a funeral.
It was a lot of fun, despite being told to look sad and cry. We were only there for about three hours, but it was a nice break from the norm and a nice brush with something I used to do for fun.
They told us that all of the extras would get a DVD of the film for helping out. Looking forward to it!

Father - Daughter Camping
A good friend of ours organized a father's camping trip for about 10 families and Steve took both of the girls. This was probably the first really cold weekend we've had this fall. The temps were down in the 30's overnight but the girls toughed it out and made it through two nights in the cold tent!
Marshmallows for breakfast??!! I'm pretty sure I packed some fruit.
Going on a hike...
Steve took one of our kayaks so he could take the girls on the river (Juniper Springs). Ali sat in the front and then Steve strapped a kiddie folding chair on the back of the boat. All was well until things got a little wobbly in the kayak and Brooke tipped over and ended up in the river! Poor thing was freezing in the cold air but a good sport about her misfortune.
Mommy enjoyed having a break and tried to make the most out of every little minute of freedom! The house was way too quiet though. And I was happy to have the chaos and joy of my beautiful girls back home again.
