Jeff and Laura: "Goodbye Keys, Hello Atlanta"
Jeff and Laura are no longer residents of the Florida Keys. At the end of May they packed up their lives and headed north to Atlanta where Jeff will start his new job at the Georgia Aquarium. And lucky for us, Orlando is the perfect half-way pit stop to hang with family.

Ali's Preschool Fun
Ali's preschool requires regular parent volunteer days where I get to be in the class with her about once a month. These are by far Ali's favorite school days, and as soon as one parent helper day is over, Ali is asking when the next will be. Here are some pictures from my last parent helper day of the school year.

Playing dress up!
Hoola hooping in the hallway. It was a rainy day and they couldn't go to the playground on this day. Ali's favorite thing on the playground is the swings!

Brooke's Animal Poem
Last week the girls and I were headed out from home to visit the zoo. Brooke had jumped out of the car to get the gate for mommy and was watching the squirrels jump from tree to tree. She made up a little song and started singing it when she got back in the car. I was so impressed and encouraged her to make up some more verses. Here is what she came up with, ALL ON HER OWN!
Oh, I want to be a squirrel,
Oh, I want to be a squirrel
I would swing from the trees and feel the nice breeze
Oh, I want to be a squirrel
Oh, I want to be a snake,
Oh, I want to be a snake
I would slither around on the hard ground
Oh, I want to be a snake
Oh, I want to be a bird,
Oh, I want to be a bird
I would flap so high in the blue sky
Oh, I want to be a bird.
Brooke's teacher, Mrs. Krepfle, has sent home information on a poetry contest for kids, so we typed up her song and entered it HERE.

Pancakes and Geocaching
Lately, I've had a hankering for Old Sugar Mill pancakes! So we loaded up the car and headed for DeLeon Springs. I knew the kids would get a kick out of cooking their own pancakes on the griddle, and the weather has been so beautiful lately.
Brooke and Mommy wielding our pancake spatulas!
We ordered chocolate chips and blue berries for our pancake batter.
After we finished breakfast, we decided to hunt for some geocaches. We are still beginners at the whole geocaching world, but even with the practice that we've had, I still have not personally been the one to find one. It's always been Steve who spots it first. So after he found two that afternoon, he decided that he was not going to look for the third so that I could find it on my own. We got to the general area where it was supposed to be and he sat down. The kids and I wandered around looking for it, with Ali and I heading in one direction and Brooke heading the other. About 60 seconds later Brookie calls out, "I found it!" Hmmm.. not sure how I feel about geocaching anymore.

Boating Adventures
We've been having lots of fun on your boat this summer. The Mighty Minnow has been getting lots of use, just about every weekend and sometimes during the week for spontaneous sunset boat rides or fishing trips. Here are a few shots of our latest fun..

We bought a tube and have been tubing behind the boat on the Wekiva and the St Johns Rivers. This picture is Steve and Ali ready to blast off!

Mother's Day 2010
I am so behind in my blogging that I can't even remember what we did for Mother's day. Luckily I have my camera to trigger my memory! So, according to my camera's memory card, the girls and I went to a Mother's Day Tea Party..
We went to ride go carts at the Little 500 in Maitland. Brookie is now old enough to drive her own car. The track was pretty dead on Mother's Day so they let us take some extra laps.

Mother's Day in Kindergarten
Mother's day in Mrs. Krepfle's class was so sweet. The kids lined up in the front of the classroom and sang songs to the moms. Then each child read a card to their mother about why they were special (a secret envelope had gone home in the backpack for the dads to help out).
Then we got to complete a cookie activity together. We had two flower shaped sugar cookies, 12 marshmallow halves, some icing and colored sugar. This is what the cookies looked like when we were done..
It was such a special time to be honored by my sweet girl. I love being her mother!
Sarasota
The girls and I traveled to Sarasota to see Sarah in her class play, Peter Pan. The play was really cute and Sarah did a great job! Here is a picture of Brooke and Mermaid Sarah before the play.

The next day the girls and I went to the beach with Marie (aka. Grandma). It was a beautiful day and the beach was gorgeous!

After lunch we found a splash park and let the girls run around and cool off. Then once the Moloney kids were out of school, we headed back to their house so the kids could play a bit before we had to head back home.
