Washington DC

Steve and I got to take a "babymoon" trip to Washington DC in September. We had a great time. It was like taking a crash course in American History all over again. It really revitalized a great love for our country and our history. And it also reminded me of what it's like to go to a museum with Steve.. be prepared for him to read EVERY plaque in the joint. Even so, we got to see a lot in the short time we were there.. here are the highlights!

Standing in front of the White House after our tour. The pres was in the house but did not honor our request for a meeting.

Lincoln Memorial

Fun with camera tricks..

For Steve and I, traveling is 50% sight seeing and 50% food. Here we are at Ben's Chili Bowl for some yummy chili dogs and cheese fries.

Enjoying a slice at We, The Pizza

Headed out for a nice dinner

The girls sent along two little toys with us to keep us company and help us remember them while we were gone. We took pictures of pony and piggy's adventures in DC and here is the slideshow..

Superhero Adventure Race

I think it's safe to say that Steve has caught the adventure race bug. He recently raced the Superhero AR at Rock Springs. His partner was Maria, a woman we met at an orienteering event a few months ago.

They did an amazing job! They found all the control points and placed 5th!
The girls and I were eagerly awaiting their return to the finish line. Brooke and Ali had each made a sign to cheer their daddy on.

Ali's sign (below) - Her daddy is her superhero!

Brooke's sign - Love her little drawings of her daddy running, biking, and paddling.

It's A Boy!

On August 11, 2011 the whole family headed for the doctor's office for the big reveal! Boy or Girl? Blue or pink? Brooke was hoping for a brother. Ali for a little sister. Mommy and daddy hoping for a son. Our little one was a bit stubborn to reveal "the goods" at first so the ultrasound tech took her measurements and checked out all the other important details. Baby is healthy and growing fast!

At one point she went to check the gender again and you could clearly see baby's ankles crossed to conceal what we were searching for. It reminded me of Brooke's ultrasounds and how it took about three and our out-of-pocket expense to finally get a clear shot of what she was.

But finally, after all the other official checking and measuring was complete, baby cooperated and the tech announced that it was a BOY! I cried tears of joy and Steve had a big smile on his face. Ali got over her disappointment rather fast and now lovingly refers to her brother as "Bob". We are so thrilled to be adding a boy to the family. Out with the pink and in with the blue!

Cute little baby toes!
