We had a free day at home and were trying to figure out how to spend it. I suggested geocaching and Steve suggested horseback riding, so we decided to do both! We were able to look up 2 geocaches across the street from us in the Wekiva wilderness area and set out with our GPS to find them. This ride was special for another reason too.. Brooke was on her very own, riding Ginger the pony!
After a bit of winding through the trees and straying from the trail we found our first geocache! We had brought a few trinkets to trade out and signed the log book. Then it was off to find the next.
Unfortunately, we had a few mishaps between point A and point B. Ginger tried to jump over a fallen log and Brooke fell off the pony. Brooke was upset for a while, but we were able to calm her down and convince her that she'd be fine to continue riding. Luckily, when you're riding a pony, you don't have very far to fall. About 30 minutes later, as we were looking for the second geocache, Ginger got spooked by an opossum and jumped again. Brooke was tossed off the pony and has hanging upside down with one foot in the stirrup. After that, there was no amount of convincing that would get her back on that pony. She rode back on Mommy's horse, but now she can tell the story and laugh about it. Hopefully she won't be fearful next time we go riding.
Here's a picture of all of us that the neighbor took for us.
