BD Horse Camp

When Steve and I asked Brooke if she was interested in doing horse camp again this summer she quickly informed us that she would be putting on her own horse camp for her friends. She had visions of a week of horse fun for her and her buds but I was able to negotiate her down to one day. She spent months in preparation, gathering up every horse themed knickknack in the house, making hand-drawn coloring pages, banners, decorations, name tags, and more.

She is so much like her daddy.. when she has a vision, she goes BIG!  She took total ownership of the whole day. She even told me that when the camp started she didn't want me to say anything unless she told me to :)

Brooke sent out handmade invitations to her friends (wish I had taken a picture), and thankfully everyone was able to come! When they arrived, they started decorating white t-shirts with horse stencils and paint and all the girls signed each others shirts.
Notice the Olympic equestrian events playing in the background..

Then the girls played a game called Snake in My Boot where they had to stand on a chair and try to drop rubber snakes in a cowboy boot. After that game we went up to the front pasture for some riding. All the girls got a chance to ride Pops or Ginger or both.

Brooke had coloring sheets and horse puzzle sheets for anyone who wasn't riding at the moment (she thought of everything).

Then we came back to the house for another game called Hay Hunt. We hid little plastic horses in a tub of hay and the girls had to find them while blindfolded.

The girls also made horses!

And they used them to run through an equestrian obstacle course that Brooke and her daddy designed.

And how do you cool off all those hot and sweaty horse girls? Water Balloons!!

And Popsicles!

The girls got to ride one more time if they wanted to before mommies arrived. I think everyone had a blast. We are so proud of Brooke for having such creative ideas and the passion to see them through. What a kid!
