We Love Our School!

ICS has been such an amazing blessing to our family. I love the way we do school, I love the people who run our school, and I love who are kids are becoming thanks to our school. I can't imagine being anywhere else. Here are some school highlights from the past few months:

Mystery Reader

In Brooke's second grade class they welcome a mystery reader once every few weeks. Mrs Burkett (BEST 2nd grade teacher EVER!) gives the kids a few clues about who it could be. The clues for this particular day were: I play tennis, I have a tire swing, I like to camp in my trailer. Surprise! It's Grammy and Papa. They read The Poky Little Puppy to Brooke's class while Brooke held her baby brother.

Book Sharing

Another highlight of Mrs. Bukett's class is Book Sharing day. The students rotate bringing in a book to share and they get to read it to the class. Brooke brought in Do Princesses Really Kiss Frogs? and I got to be there since it was my parent partner day.

Brooke's Birthday

Mrs. Burkett does an amazing job of making the kids feel so special on their birthday. Brooke stood on a chair in the front of the class while her friends sang to her. Then they took turns telling Brooke what made her special. It was so heart warming to hear how her peers see her as a special friend. Brooke's smile says it all.

100th Day of School

The 100th day of school is a big deal in kindergarten. All year they are learning to count to the big milestone number and when they finally get there, it is cause for celebration. In Mrs. Krepfle's class Ali had to create a 100 work of art. She had to pick a way to incorporate 100 of something into a work of art. My little mermaid lover chose seashells.

Grandparents Day

I love that ICS sets aside a spacial day to honor grandparents. After all, where would we be without them!? Each class sings a song or recites a poem or memory verses. Then we had a reception where the girls got to give their special guests a gift. We missed not having Grandma DeMoor there. We are so thankful for all our grandparents and all the love and support they give us.
